Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has spoken candidly ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, addressing growing speculation surrounding Antoine Semenyo’s future and the challenges his possible departure could create.

The Cherries head into the North London fixture amid a difficult run of form, having gone eleven matches without a win—their longest winless streak in a single top-flight season. They now face a Tottenham side that has also struggled for consistency, winning just two of their last eleven Premier League outings.
Semenyo’s Future Uncertain
This weekend’s match could prove to be Semenyo’s final appearance in a Bournemouth shirt, with the forward widely expected to complete a move to Manchester City in the coming weeks. Iraola acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding the situation and admitted it has been difficult to plan amid the ongoing speculation.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow or in the next two or three days,” Iraola said.
“I asked to be informed before coming here because otherwise I could look foolish talking about Antoine and then he leaves. That’s the situation at the moment.”
While no deal has yet been finalized, Iraola hinted that a departure remains a strong possibility.
“I think it could be his last game. That’s my personal feeling, but nothing is agreed and nothing is signed,” he added.
“It’s based on how I understand the market and the noise around it. Right now, he is still our player and I hope that continues.”
The Bournemouth boss did not hide the scale of the challenge the club would face if Semenyo were to leave, describing him as “almost impossible to replace” due to his influence, versatility, and physical presence.
Christie Ruled Out Against Spurs
Iraola also provided an update on team news, confirming that Ryan Christie will miss the trip to Tottenham as he continues his recovery from a knee problem.
“I don’t think he will be back tomorrow. It’s about how he feels,” Iraola explained.
“He is running and sprinting without any problems, but he still feels discomfort when kicking the ball. We need to give him a bit more time.”
Opportunity for Historic Double
Despite their recent struggles, Bournemouth will be aiming to secure their first-ever Premier League double over Tottenham. They claimed a 1–0 victory in the reverse fixture back in August, with Evanilson scoring in the opening minutes, and will be eager to repeat that success in North London.
